I start this thread with interesting photos from the official Bundeswehr homepage.
Firefight in the northern Afghan desert: German soldiers of Charlie Platoon, Force Protection Company engage insurgents north-west of Kunduz.

On their way back to the camp an IED suddenly explodes and destroys an up-armoured "Wolf" G-Wagon. Under smoke cover the infantrymen recover the wounded passengers.

Insurgents are hiding behind a wall and the German infantrymen open fire with rifles and heavy machine guns, forcing their ambushers back into cover.

During a pause a German soldier checks a heavy weapon, mounted on his Fuchs APC.

After an IED attack on a German patrol a Dingo 2 gunner scans the surrounding area for targets.

The wounded soldiers are being recovered from their lightly armoured G-Wagon after they were hit by an IED. The explosion caused a 4m-wide crater and catapulted the vehicles motor 50m away. The passengers were only lightly injured, though.
